Unemployed
Unemployment can be a major setback for workers in many ways. It can negatively effect their outlook on life, health and well-being, current financial situation, and their future retirement security. Without a paycheck, many unemployed workers dip into their retirement savings to cover make ends meet which, in turns, requires they find a way to catch up when they become re-employed.
Research and surveys from Transamerica Institute and Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies examine the effects of unemployment and underemployment (being employed in a role in which one is overqualified and underpaid) on workers' short-term financial situation and the implications for their long-term retirement prospects.
