Retirement brings freedom and opportunities for traveling, spending time with family and friends, pursuing hobbies, doing volunteer work, and even doing paid work such as starting a business pursuing an encore career, or continued work in the same field. However, for many people, retirement can bring new uncertainties and financial insecurities.

Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies conducts surveys of retirees to gain insights into their transition into retirement, how their lives have changed, how their personal finances have changed, their sources of income, and their plans for long-term care if and when their health declines. The research also explores retirees' reflections on their retirement preparations including what they would have done differently.
