Pandemic Impacts

The COVID-19 pandemic was the most severe public health crisis in more than a century. In addition to its devastating health-related effects, the pandemic upended nearly every aspect of daily life including daily routines, living arrangements, employment, personal finance, and retirement security.

During and after the pandemic, Transamerica Institute and Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies has conducted research and surveys of employers, workers, and the general population to understand the impacts of the pandemic on people's lives, livelihoods, personal finances, and retirement prospects. The research seeks to illustrate how people's lives have changed since the pandemic and ways things have remained the same.
