Historically and persistently, retirement confidence among women has lagged behind men’s. Women earn less than men and they are more likely to take time out of the workforce or work part-time to be parents and/or caregivers. Over the course of a woman’s career, these factors translate to reduced earnings and lower long-term retirement savings.

Women: Let’s Talk About Retirement examines women's retirement outlook by age range, offers actionable insights for promoting greater levels of retirement awareness, and makes recommendations to help women of all ages to improve their retirement outlook.

The research report is based on findings from the 12th Annual Transamerica Retirement Survey of more than 4,000 workers. The survey was conducted in 2011.
