Women’s roles in society has continued to evolve at home and in the workforce over the decades. Women have made great strides in achieving higher levels of education, gaining opportunities in the workforce, and pursuing careers. Women also continue to play a vital role as mothers and caregivers. Although strides have been made, women continue to be at greater risk of not achieving a financially secure retirement than men.
Juggling Current Priorities and Financial Security: Every Woman Needs Her Own Retirement Strategy sheds light on the retirement-related risks women face, as well as opportunities for improving their retirement preparedness. During the careful preparation of this report, it became increasingly clear that women can do more to take charge of what is within their control and improve their retirement outlook, for example, by getting more educated on the topic, discussing with family and close friends, and factoring finances into life’s decisions.
This research report is based on findings from the 13th Annual Transamerica Retirement Survey of more than 3,600 workers conducted in 2012.
